In a post-End-game world, filled with disappointing shows & movies, many are losing faith in Marvel’s ability to provide a truly magical watching experience.

This story follows Deadpool as he searches the multiverse to find the one man that can help him save his world, and all the people that he loves: Wolverine. D & W also marks the eagerly anticipated arrival of the X-Men & Deadpool to the MCU, & all the R-rated action , self-aware humour, and commentary that comes with them.
Shawn Levy’s direction and Jackman’s & Reyndold’s performances all shine in this movie. The trademark R-rated humor and action are balanced perfectly with the emotional depth that comes from actors who’ve played their characters for so long and know them so well. Reynolds/Deadpool’s sarcastic wit & light-hearted demeanour work perfectly with Wolverine’s gruff, bristly exterior to form an extremely entertaining dynamic that I felt like I could watch for years to come.
The 200 mil budget is all on screen: There are frequent, high-quality action sequences, lots of well-done special FX, & a track list of iconic songs that heighten the atmosphere of every scene.
Cameos are also used effectively, with surprising choices that are highly satisfying in their execution & contribution to the overall story, while paying homage to the Marvel movies that came before, and helped pave the way for the MCU.
The story is pretty standard for the MCU, but there’s so much going on to ensure you’re having a good time while you watch, so the story just has to do the basics, and it does.
As far as themes and messaging goes, it’s your standard “what it really means to be a hero” thing. However, Deadpool makes several jokes about the mCU that make him feel like the voice of the fans. Now that he’s a part of the franchise, it creates hope that Deadpool’s “awareness” of these issues means that Marvel execs will at least try to work on them, so there’s an underlying theme/message of hope.
The audience reaction in the theatre has a big impact on any watching experience, and my audience laughed and engaged with this movie like it was the golden age of the MCU again. I was either laughing or smiling through the entire 2-hour runtime, and I think that’s a big part of why the movie’s being received so well.
this movie has already secured its title as the eighth biggest opening of all time, and broken records to become the biggest launch for an R-rated film. by far! commercial success, plus the impressive 97% audience score on rotten tomatoes makes it clear that audiences are very happy with the watching experience this movie delivers.
The audience’s anticipation of, and reaction to the cameos made it feel similar to No Way Home. While there’s a lot of Easter eggs in this movie for comic book fans. I felt like I was able to appreciate a lot without that comic book knowledge, so it does a good job of catering to all audiences.
Overall, I really enjoyed watching this movie. Not only did it meet my high expectations, it restored my hope in the MCU’s ability to recover and meet the highs of infinity war/end game again, and I feel cautiously optimistic about the MCU’s future. I strongly recommend checking it out as early as you can in cinemas to enjoy the movie to its fullest, because again, the surprises and the audience reactions are a big part of what makes this movie such a good time.
